If you've been following this blog for a while, you probably know that I enjoy writing about Korean culture, language, and everyday life in Korea. My goal has always been to share interesting aspects of Korea with people who are curious about the language and culture.

Besides writing this blog, I'm also a Korean language teacher, and over the years I've had the opportunity to teach students from many different countries.

One thing I've noticed is that students are always excited to learn something new during class. However, real progress happens outside the classroom. Students who review vocabulary between lessons tend to make much faster progress than those who rarely practice on their own.

That observation made me think about how I could help my students continue learning even after class.

As someone who has studied other languages myself, I also relied on flashcards while learning English. They made it much easier to review vocabulary in short study sessions instead of trying to memorize long word lists.

Remembering how helpful flashcards were for me, I decided to create my own printable Korean vocabulary flashcards—not only for my students, but also for anyone learning Korean.

My Latest Flashcard Set

My latest flashcard collection focuses on Korean cooking vocabulary.

Many learners can order food at a restaurant, but cooking words are surprisingly difficult to learn because they don't appear very often in beginner textbooks. At the same time, they're commonly used in recipes, cooking videos, and Korean TV shows.

I wanted to create something that would help learners build vocabulary in a more enjoyable and practical way.

How I Designed the Flashcards

When creating the flashcards, I tried to think from a learner's perspective.

Each card includes:

• Korean (Hangul)
• Romanization
• English translation
• Hand-drawn illustrations
• Printable PDF in both A4 and US Letter sizes

I also created a Bonus Guide.

While making the cards, I realized that vocabulary lists alone aren't always enough. Some Korean cooking words have very similar meanings but are used in different situations, and those differences can be confusing for learners.

That's why the bonus guide explains commonly confused expressions, their differences, and how they're naturally used in everyday Korean.

I hope it helps learners understand the language beyond simple word-for-word translations.

Looking Ahead

This is just the beginning.

I've already released English and Spanish editions, and I'm planning to expand the collection into more languages in the future so that learners from different countries can study Korean more comfortably.

I'm also planning to create new vocabulary sets covering everyday topics such as colors, the human body, clothing, school, home, and many other useful themes.
